Community News
With the commencement of Term 4, please be aware of the changes made to the Stephen Street entrance.
As you would be aware, the driveway narrows slightly when you pass through the brick gates. This can lead to a buildup of vehicles entering SSC from Stephen Street. To help maintain a smooth flow of traffic, vehicles exiting the College grounds will now be required to give way to those entering. To facilitate the work, this entry will be closed on Friday, 26 September, and access to SSC will be available only via the South Street entrance. Please see attached photos for the upcoming changes.
Don鈥檛 miss our students in 鈥淲hen I Think of The End.鈥
At Concordia, we are proud to see our students taking their creativity into the wider community.
Joshua Walkington, Abigail Leslight and Bruce Blessing have been selected for the 2025 Senior IMPACT Ensemble at The Empire Theatre. Since May, they have been working alongside their cast mates to devise, write and now rehearse a brand new production, When I Think of The End, opening this October.
This is an extraordinary achievement for three of our young people and a clear example of how Concordia鈥檚 commitment to nurturing creativity extends far beyond the classroom.
We encourage our community to support Josh, Abi and Bruce by attending the show and celebrating their success.
Spring has Sprung!
The incredible talents of our music students truly entertained at the Spring has Sprung solo concert held on Thursday, September 4.
Students from all three campuses came together to deliver yet another memorable concert, showcasing both their musical growth and their courage. Seasoned performers demonstrated their continued development in skill and confidence, while debut performers bravely stepped out of their comfort zones to share their musical journeys with a large audience.
This concert marked the third in our Solo Concert Series for the year, and we couldn鈥檛 be prouder of every performer who took the stage.
Be sure to mark your calendars for the final concert in the series coming up in Term 4 on November13. We can鈥檛 wait to see (and hear!) what鈥檚 next.

JC Student Illness
As we move through to the end of Term 3, we kindly remind families of the importance of keeping children at home when they are unwell. Even mild symptoms such as coughs, colds, or upset stomachs can spread quickly through classrooms, impacting the health and learning of other students and staff. Allowing your child the time to rest and recover not only supports their own wellbeing but also helps us maintain a healthy and safe environment for all children at school. We greatly appreciate your support in caring for our whole community.
JC Oktoberfest Raffle
We are excitedly preparing for the upcoming Oktoberfest event scheduled for Saturday, 25 October, from 4pm to 8pm. This event aims not only to raise funds for the college but also to provide an opportunity for the college community to come together again.
For this event, we are organising a raffle, with each Year Level putting together a hamper with a particular theme.
Please to read the letter from our Junior Campus Directors for more information.
JC Track and Field News
CENTRAL ZONE TRACK AND FIELD CARNIVAL 2025
With perfect weather setting the stage for athletes and spectators alike, our Central Zone Track and Field representatives enjoyed a wonderful day at O鈥橯uinn St Monday 18th August. Concordia was proudly represented across a range of events, with eight students selected in the Central Zone team to compete at the Darling Downs trials on 1st September.
Several other students narrowly missed qualification, with only the top two from each event progressing to the next level. This is the 鈥渘ature of the beast鈥 in competitive sport 鈥 learning to perform on the day under pressure. These carnivals provide valuable lessons in resilience and determination, and our students embraced the challenge with outstanding sportsmanship.
Concordia is immensely proud of every athlete鈥檚 effort.
Acknowledgements
A huge thank you goes to everyone who supported our athletes in the lead-up to the carnival 鈥 from the office staff managing paperwork, to our SSC sports coaches Mr Mathews and Mr Prinsloo, and to the parents who transported students to early-morning and after-school training sessions over the past five weeks.
On the day, Mrs Warrener and Mr Oosthuizen were exceptional in looking after the team. We also deeply appreciated the many parents who came along to cheer, creating a fantastic atmosphere for our athletes.

This is an outstanding achievement, building on their earlier Queensland Cross Country selections 鈥 Ajah in the school team and Thomas in the club team.
We congratulate all athletes on their achievements and thank our community for the continued support.

We are excited to announce that "Concordia's Got Talent" is happening again this year! This fun, informal event will take place during first break (10.45am-11.30am) and is all about celebrating the unique talents of our students. Whether it's singing, dancing, or showing off a hidden skill, it is a chance for students to enjoy themselves and share their abilities in a relaxed and supportive environment. We will invite all students to come along and cheer for their peers making it a memorable lunchtime filled with laughter and entertainment! Parents are also welcome.
Students have been invited to register their interest. They are able to do their act solo or with a group of friends. We aim for each item to be no longer than 2 minutes. When they register, they will need to let the Year 6 Facilitators know if they need music and which song, and also if they need props, such as gym mats. We are looking forward to this very exciting event.
